Crosfield Children Centre Group staff are skilled and experienced practitioners who are on hand to share some of the joys and challenges of child-rearing with you.


We offer “Stay and Play” sessions for children aged 0 to 4 years old and their parents/carers, in addition to groups specifically for childminders, “Mums-to-be” and their babies.


Other groups are offered in response to community needs and may include courses such as Family Learning, PEEPs and “Musical bumps”. Details of the days and times of all these can be found on the activities timetable.


Stay and Play sessions

For children aged 0-4 years old.  A free drop in service for parents/carers and their children to enjoy a wide range of fun activities indoors and outdoors.  A useful social experience for both parents/carers and children.  Get an understanding of how best to support your child through their development changes with useful


Baby Services

Bumps to One including Musical Bumps.  For babies 0-12 months.  A singing and rhyming session for parents/carers to meet and share their experiences.  Also availabe are members of staff who can give advice and support on a range of topics.


Baby Zone

For babies 0-12 months.  Opportunity for parents/carers to meet and share their experiences.  Tips and help with development, feeding and activities for babies under 12 months.


Toddler Explorers

Session for children aged 12-24 months.  Fun activities for children to play and have social interaction.  Advice and support is available on a wide range of topics.


Toddler Healthy Eating Course

A six week course helping parents/carers with cooking and nutrition advice for young children.


Weaning Course

A course to help manage the transition from milk to food.  Giving advice, support and cooking ideas for when babies are starting to try new foods.



Drop in service for parents/carers that are worried about communication development.  Session is attended by a speech and language therapist.   Advice, information, activities and ideas to encourage a child's communication.


Musical Bumps

For children aged 0-4 years old.  A fun music and movement class for children of all ages.  A great way to encourage communication, rhyming and enjoyment of music.



Stay and play sessions for Childminders to meet with other minders and their children.  Facilities for children to explore and have fun in a safe environment.


Courses for parents (creches are available)

  • Family Language Course ESOL (English for speakers of other languages).  Improve your English, practise speaking and listening skills.  Find out how to help your child's early learning and ideas to support them at home.
  • Parenting Course - Incredible Years.  The Incredible Years parenting programme aims to increase their children's social and self-control skills and reduce challenging behaviour.
  • Parenting Course - Being a Parent.  This eight week course helps parents learn practical communication skills for everyday life and bringing up confident, happy and co-operative children.


Access to work

An advisor from Job Centre Plus attends a children's centre once a month to help people with all aspects of starting work from writing a CV to applying for courses.
